Review:
It is often said that if you drive an automatic, then you are not a car enthusiast. If that is the case then I hope this little item will bring us a little closer to becoming the very definition of “being a car enthusiast”. After driving with the bushing installed for a month now, I find that this is a perfect little upgrade for the driving enthusiast even for an automatic driver.
So what’s so special about this little bushing, you ask? It helps with many aspects of the power being transferred from the engine to the wheels by not allowing very much “slop” or “movement” that the transmission goes through under varying driving conditions. Stock, the car does not have any kind of bushing or support; it’s just plain air. Shifting is more crisp due to the lack of play. You will also notice that the gear is more stable at lower RPMs and allows the transmission less slippage on the torque converter. So launches off the line have more bite.
Installation only takes about 15-20 minutes with the right equipment or a little longer if you’re not so mechanically inclined. As always, be safe and get help if you don’t know your car.
The only thing that may be an issue for some (not for me) is that you will notice some slight transmission noise and if your hand is on the shift lever, then you will feel the transmission. If you are an enthusiast, you will find that this is a good thing for you can feel the car more and hear what its doing.
In comparison with other important features, I’d rank this as high as changing the rear sway-bar, steering rack bushings, springs and changing tires from stock. This is a must… a must for the “car enthusiast”.
